There has been much interest in my Casual Granny Crochet Along so i want to clarify some details for those of you that were interested in what yarn and colours i will be using in my crochet blanket. I am also listing more information below based on queries regarding the type of blanket you will be making (should you choose to make the blanket). The following information is for those who would like to make the EXACT crochet blanket that i am making. There is no pressure to do this – use up your scraps, choose your own colours if you like. 🙂 And remember, this is casual, no need to make all the squares. Use them for a different project if you like, but please tag #casualgrannyCAL
Firstly, the colours for the Crochet Along!
Here is a list of what i will be using – keeping in mind this is an estimate. I will do my absolute best to stick to the amounts listed here. Colours will NOT change. Worst case scenario you will need an extra ball of something, but i will do i best to avoid that. 🙂

You’re welcome! I’m so happy you like it 🙂
In order to complete the blanket do I need to make 5 of each square or just one? Thank you! Looking forward to participating
Hi Beth,
You need to make 8 of each square. There will be 10 designs – so 80 squares in total. Hope this helps.

Yes, thank you! One down 😊will post soon!
Can you suggest some alternative yarns? I’m from Canada and fairly new to crochet. Love, Love, love your patterns!
hi! Thanks for visiting my blog. You could really use any 8ply/DK yarn that you have in your stash. Cotton or cotton blend would be great, but i’ve noticed lots of people using wool and wool blends too. Hope this helps.

Hello! I love participating in this Granny Square CAL. It is so much fun!
I’m wondering, did I miss the posting of how to crochet the white borders that you are adding to your squares?
Thanks,
Teresa
Hi Teresa, i have posted Part A of the joining process, which is adding the white yarn around the edge of each block. There’s no pressure to do it right now, but it will save time when you get to the end. 🙂

Thank you for advice.
Best regards,

Hello! Are you @schautmal.de on Instagram? I just love your choice of colours, so i think you should follow your instincts and join in whatever you like! You’ve obviously got a good eye for colour, so you should trust yourself.
I’ve never joined with a dark colours, but it’s not because i don’t like dark colours…..i just find them hard to see when i’m crocheting at night.

I just found this on IG via this hashtag and I love everything!!! Would love to try the colors of the blanket in the photo example. May I ask what they are? Thank you so much 🙂
Hi Nicole, i’ve got a list of the colours here Casual Granny CAL Colours
Happy Making!
Oh thank you! I was actually referring to the sample blanket you draped on your shelves? Super adore those combos! Thank you 🙂
I’m going to begin as soon as my yarn arrives…wednesday…hope it’s not too late to catch up. Love the colors. I have other cotton yarns but I think it’s better if I just use the ones you’re using. I also ordered your book, I don’t remember where from, I think I followed the link in your IG acct. Can’t wait to start even though I belong to other yarn clubs and have 3 other WIPs. Just began crochet and love it, small squares of color is perfect for me. Thanks for the lovely idea and designs.
hi Deborah, thanks for your comment. You sound busy with your wips, which is why this CAL is nice and casual. There’s no pressure to make all the squares – you can pick and choose just a few if you prefer.
Happy Making!
