Crochet A-B-Sea by Pony McTate
Crochet A-B-Sea is a fab new crochet book by fun and quirky crochet designer Pony McTate. As most of my crochet crushes, I follow Pony on Instagram and love her sense of humour and Stumpy her cat. Her book is not like most crochet books, which is typical of Pony as she always does her own thing. A trait i admire greatly!

What’s inside Crochet A-B-Sea?
Crochet A-B-Sea includes 26 unusual and clever sea creature patterns, set out from A to Z. Making it a book that appeals to both children and grownups alike. I can picture little kids sitting and flicking through the pages, learning about known and little known sea creatures from Anemone to Zooplankton. And it might even tempt them to learn to crochet!
The Patterns
All 26 patterns together, along with 4 extra background squares make a fun and unique baby blanket. This pattern section begins with a how to on making the base squares for the blanket. The sea creatures are made separately and attached to each base square.
Making the sea creature patterns separate to the blocks is genius and here’s why – each sea creature can be made in isolation and attached to anything you like!! That’s right! You’re only limited by your imagination. Following in Pony’s clever steps, i made her Great White Shark pattern and attached it to my fave jeans.
Helpful Hints and Step by Step photos
Each pattern lists a difficulty rating, yarn needed and close up images of any tricky steps (vitally important). If you’re new to hand stitching then Pony has this covered too. Finally, there’s is a section on putting your blanket together and finishing it off to perfection. Hoorah!
