Weekend Away

Finding a weekend where we can steal all of our little family away isn’t easy, so sometimes we have to force it. I am so glad we did. It snowed a little in Millthorpe this weekend…..just a little, but that was enough to make the kids happy.

We accomplished a lot in two short days. The biggest thing being BEDS!! Very exciting and much better than sleeping on the floor. I haven’t attached pictures as they are mostly undressed and not looking especially pretty at the moment. We also hung a lot of pictures, pulled out old rose bushes, levelled  hedges, assembled stools (x6), bought some essential boring items (brooms, mops, etc) and managed a little sleep in each morning.

I have so many pictures to share of our progress and junkyard finds, but i’ll focus on the kitchen and living area. I fall more in love with Winterfell at each visit. It feels like home. I hope our guests feel that way too.

What an adorable house!! I’m jealous that you’ve gone right to decorating it and playing up its charm and aren’t muddling around in mess and dirt. That is a WAY better plan than the one I involved myself with…

Cute sign leaning against the wall… next to the red mirror? Actually, it’s all cute. Your kitchen is great too. I love the white (ish?) cabinets. I’m trying to talk myself out of doing white since I don’t want to have to clean them with that degree of OCD. But every time I see a white kitchen, I really don’t want to compromise. Light cabinets just make the room seem so much bigger.

Can’t wait to see your beds!!

You are so sweet and kind! i’ll attach a proper picture of that sign in my next entry, so that you can read it all. It has some nice words that I’m trying to live by.

The kitchen – black and white is so very practical and to be honest, if i’d built the house myself i couldn’t have done the kitchen better. Black mottled benches and kick boards (i don’t know what you call them in the states) are brilliant because they disguise some of the grime…..so you really only have to keep the cupboards clean. AND black and white doesn’t date.

Glad the kids got to see some snow! The best things in life are free!
