With yarn color for small petals:

  • Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), 6 sc in ring.
  • Pull ring tight.
  • Sl st in first sc to close round. (6 sts)

Rep from ■ two more times:

  • Mirror down the other side:
    • sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc
  • Sl st to base between petals.
  • Rep for remaining two petals.

Fasten off and weave in ends. Make 2 small petals.

Large Petal (Make 1 in Red, 1 in Green for Leaf)

With yarn color for large petals (red for petal, green for leaf):

Round 1:

  • MR, 6 sc in ring, sl st to close. (6 sts)

Round 2:

  • Ch 1 (for turning), inc in each st around (2 sc in each) – (12 sts)
  • Sl st to join.

    • Throughout petal base: Ch 8, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each of next 6 ch (7 sl sts)
    • Sl st in next 2 sts on base.
    • Repeat all the way around, forming 6 pillars.

Round 4 (Shaping each petal section, as per small petal):

Flower Heart (Center)

With white or yellow yarn:

  • Ch 1 to secure, then fasten off. Pull the MR tight for a firm, small center.
  • Weave in all ends.

Assembly

  1. Layer petals:
    • Place green (leaf) behind red (large petal), then place two small petals in front, slightly offset for a natural look.
  2. Sew or glue all layers together securely at the center.
  3. Attach flower heart in the center, covering all joins.
  4. Add optional hardware: Attach to keyring, charm, or bouquet as desired.

Conclusion

You have completed your 3D Christmas Flower, perfect for ornaments, bouquets, keychains, or festive gifts. Mix and match colors, and assemble as you like for different effects!

Pattern Corrections & Tips

  • If your petals curl or twist, block them gently with steam or pat flat after assembly.
  • Use a yarn needle for assembly for a neater finish than glue.
  • Marking the first stitch of each petal and section is highly recommended to avoid confusion.
  • Tighten your magic circle well, especially for the flower heart.
