Finished Size:
18″ tall x 12″ Diameter

Gauge:
14 dc sts x 7 rows = 4″ x 4″

Materials:

  • Color A: 2 balls of Peaches & Crème Black Currant (purple) 2.5 ounces/70.9g
  • Color B: 1 ball of Lily Sugar ‘n Cream Lime 2.5 ounces/70.9g
  • Color C: 2 balls of Peaches & Crème Lilac 2.5 ounces/70.9g
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Hook size H or 5 mm Hook
  • Stitch Marker

Abbreviations:

  • Mc, ch, sl st, sc, hdc, dc, and fptc are the stitches required
  • At the beginning of a round, ch 3 or 2 counts as a st
  • Special Stitch: split sc; go between the vertical posts instead of under the horizontal “v”

Follow the pattern below:

Base (Color A)

Rounds 2 – 15 are done in a continuous round using a stitch marker to keep track.

  1. Start with 6 sc into ring
  2. 2 sc into each sc around (12)
  3. Continue increasing as described in the pattern until you have 84 sc.
  4. Sl st in next st, fasten off Color A, do not move Stitch Marker.

Broad Bands (Color B & C)

  1. Begin with Color B (lime): Ch 2, Hdc around, join with sl st in top of Ch 2, fasten off.
  2. Switch to Color C (Lilac): Follow the pattern to create the “dragonfly” stitches and “broad bands” as given in the pattern until the fourth and final broad band is completed.

Strap

  1. Create a 5-foot long strap from the four options provided using your preferred method and sew the ends together once fed through the bag.

To Feed the Strap Through:

  1. Lay the bag flat, count 21 stitches from the right, and begin weaving the strap in and out through the trebles. Continue until the strap is even and sew to the bottom of the bag.

Finishing Touches:

  1. End with a round of hdc using Color B and then change to Color C for a round of dc.
  2. Complete the pattern by finishing with a round of trc that will have the strap feed through.
