  3. Do an SC all the way around the cord created in row 1, 80 times total. Slip stitch with the first stitch to join chain 1.
  4. In the 2nd chain from the hook, *HDC into both loops of each of the next 13 stitches, [HDC, ch2, HDC] into the next stitch. Repeat from * once more, HDC 13, ch1, and turn.
  5. In the 2nd chain from the hook, HDC, *HDC in each stitch to the corner, [HDC, ch2, HDC]. Repeat from * once more and HDC to end the row.
  6. Repeat the above row 12 more times, giving a total of 14 eyelets.
  7. Cut the yarn, leaving a tail to weave in, and pull through the final stitch to secure. Repeat once more for the opposite side of the bag.

Bottom of the Bag:

  1. Holding 2 strands of yarn, ch 32.
  2. In the second chain from the hook, HDC, then HDC in each chain stitch across this row. Ch1 and turn. Do this for 12 rows in total, cutting yarn and securing the final stitch at the end.

Finishing:

  1. Seam all pieces together using mattress stitch.
  2. Starting from the bottom corner of one of the side pieces, seam one of each of the first 6 chains to 6 rows along the short edge of the bottom piece.
  3. Continue along the long edge of the bottom piece, seaming one chain on the bottom piece with one chain on the bottom of the bag piece.
  4. Seam the final 6 stitches of the bag piece to the 6 rows on the short edge of the bottom piece. Repeat this for the second bag piece.
  5. Once each bag piece is fully connected to the bottom, seam the side pieces of the bag together to close.
  6. Weave in all ends to secure.

The pattern suggests steam blocking and has a tutorial video to help with seaming. Feel free to adjust this pattern according to your own preferences, and enjoy crocheting your Cove Tote Bag!
