Crochet Christmas Minis
You can create adorable Christmas tree appliques, tiny present boxes, cute gnomes, and charming Christmas bells. They’re fun to make and perfect for decorating your home, adding a personal touch to gifts, or even hanging on your Christmas tree.
Materials:
- Green yarn (referred to as
gran) - Brown yarn (for the tree trunk)
- Crochet hook (size not mentioned)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Instructions:
Tree
- Start with a slip knot using the green yarn.
Make 2 chains (Ch2).
Into the second chain from the hook, make one single crochet (sc)—this is row one.
- For row two, chain one (Ch1), turn your piece, and make one increase (inc) in the same stitch. An increase is made by working two single crochet stitches into the same stitch.
For row three, CH1, turn your piece, and make an increase in each stitch. You should have a total of four single crochet stitches at the end of this row.
- For the last row, Ch1, turn your piece, and start by making an increase in the very first stitch.
Follow with a single crochet in the two middle stitches. In the final stitch, make another increase. Chain one (Ch1) and cut the yarn, leaving a tail to sew the tree onto the sweater later.
Tree Trunk
- With the brown yarn insert your hook into the first middle stitch of the tree’s bottom row.
- Bring in the yarn, make Ch1 and then a single crochet into that same stitch.
- Into the next stitch, make one more single crochet.
- Bury any yarn tails under the stitches, Ch1, and cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing.
Now you should have a mini Christmas tree applique to sew onto the mini sweater. Simply position the applique on the center of the sweater and use the tails to sew it on securely.
