Step by step Pattern

Technical Notes

  • Ensure the arms, backrest, and pillows are sufficiently stuffed.
  • Stitch count in brackets is provided at the end of each round/row.
  • Stitch count excludes chains or slip stitches.

Pattern Sections

Top of Box (Orange, Make 2)
  • Row 1: Ch 35, start in the second Ch from the hook, make 1 HDC in each Ch across (34 sts)
  • Rows 2-5: Ch 1, turn, make 1 HDC in each st across (34 sts)
  • Rows 6-9: Ch 1, turn, make 1 HDC in the first 5 sts (5 sts), then fasten off.

Sew the two pieces together creating an opening for the tissue. Attach this top to the base.

Base (Orange)
  • Row 1: Ch 13, start in the second Ch from the hook, make 1 SC in each Ch across (12 sts)
  • Rows 2-108: Ch 1, turn, make 1 SC in each st across (12 sts), then fasten off.

Sew the edges together to form the base, then attach the top.

Arm Rests (Orange, Make 2)
  • Round 1: Make a magic circle, Ch 2, into the magic circle, make 10 DC, join with a sl st (10 sts)
  • Round 2: Ch 1, make 2 SC in each st around, join with a sl st (20 sts)
  • Rounds 3-12: Ch 1, make 1 HDC in each st around, join with a sl st (20 sts), then fasten off.

Stuff before sewing to the couch.

Back Rest (Orange)
  • Row 1: Ch 13, start in the second Ch from the hook, make 1 HDC in each of the next 11 sts, in the last st make 5 HDC. Then continue on the other side making 1 HDC in each st across (27 sts)
  • Rows 2-26: Ch 1, turn, make 1 HDC in each st across (27 sts)
  • Row 27: Ch 1, turn, make 1 HDC in the next 11 sts, then 1 HDC inv dec, 1 HDC, and 1 HDC inv dec in the next 5 sts. Continue with 1 HDC in each of the remaining 11 sts (25 sts), then fasten off.

Sew the edges together.

Pillows (White, Make 2)
  • Row 1: Ch 11, start in the second Ch from the hook, make 1 HDC in each Ch across (10 sts)
  • Rows 2-12: Ch 1, turn, make 1 HDC in each st across (10 sts), then fasten off.

Stuff and sew the edges to form the pillow, then attach them to the couch.

Blanket (White)
  • Row 1: Ch 29, start in the ninth Ch from the hook, make 1 DC, then Ch 3, skip 3 Ch’s and make 1 DC in the next Ch, repeat across (6 DC)
  • Rows 2-10: Ch 6, turn, make 1 DC into the top of the DC made in the previous row, then Ch 3, skip 3 Ch’s and make 1 DC in the next DC, repeat across (6 DC), then fasten off.
