Materials and tools

Thanks to the designer’s recommendations for the crochet supplies she used, you can get the same amigurumi sloth. Following are those:

  • Yarn of three colors of your choice. The designer uses Drops Nord and Drops Alpaca for fluffy toys or YarnArt Jeans, and Drops Safran. YarnArt is Ideal for smooth ones.
  • Crochet the hook according to your yarn. (The designer uses Clover 1.5 or 1.75).
  • Yarn needle, sewing needle.
  • Black thread for embroidering the nose (e.g. YarnArt Canarias). A small amount of ivory yarn for embroidering the claws (e.g. 100% cotton Baby Cotton 50 g 180 m)
  • Button eyes diameter 5 mm, sewing thread of black color to sew the eyes.
  • Polyester fiberfill.
  • A piece of velcro tape if you use a fluffy yarn.

  • Stuff the body tightly, but it must not be too round.
  • 32 rnd: 8 dec (8)
  • Add some fiberfill if you need to.
  • Cut the yarn leaving a long tail. Close the remaining hole using a yarn needle weave in the yarn through the front loops of all 8 stitches and pull tightly.
  • Hide the remaining yarn tail inside the detail.

Assembling

Sew on the face, then the spots over the face. The outer corners should be directed downwards.
Sew on the eyes over the spots.
Embroider the nose in the center between the eyes, it should be on the same level with the eyes.
Sew on the arms and the legs.
Embroider three claws on each paw.Make a tuft on the sloth’s top head. Take a piece of main yarn and make a loop with the help of the hook under the first row. Cut the ends of the thread at the desired length and fluff the ends.
If you crocheted with some fluffy yarn, use the velcro tape to comb the toy and make it fluffier.
The size of the finished toys made of Drops Alpaca, Drops Nord is about 7 cm (2,8 inches), the size of the finished toys made of YarnArt Jeans is about 8 cm (3.2 inches).
